Monthly Photo Challenge | November | Twin Cities Portrait Photographer

In the spirit of reviving my poor, neglected blog, I have joined a small group of photographers in the undertaking of a monthly photo challenge for the year of 2012. For each month, a color theme has been designated, and on the 26th of that month, every photographer in the group will post their themed images.  Instead of being presented with only my perspective of that month’s theme, you are presented with the perspective of the entire group, as at the bottom of our posts, we link to the next person in our circle of photographers, so that if you choose, you can keep clicking and see our very different visions of the same theme! Fun, right?

—————————————————————————————————————————–

The theme for November is Brown and/or Yellow.

Since every child of mine has inherited my brown eyes (except theirs are all decked out with THICK lashes!), I went with just BROWN.  A couple of weeks ago, after opening his school pictures and thinking they just did NOT capture his cute little personality, and his outfit that day really did, I asked Will if he would let me take some pictures of him, since he looked so cool.  Of course, at his age, he’s getting to the point that he’s not delighted to pose for me..  Or if he does, he wants it to be in his way, but I find after I let him have a few “his way”, I usually get a few “my way”, and some giggles in between.  Initially I was only planning to post the close-up of my youngest and his funny face.  But then I looked through the rest of the images from our little session, and thought I’d post all of my favorites.  He just has so MUCH personality, and he’s growing like a little weed.  Enjoy!

And there you have it! Next month’s theme is pretty much wide open – Red and/or Green and/or Silver and/or Gold!  Subscribe to my blog to get instant notifications of future posts, and comments are very welcome! The {R} Family | Waconia Family Photographer

Just before Autumn set in, I had the pleasure of photographing The {R} Family.  Tina is one of my good friends from school, and her daughter Melina has been in front of my camera many times since she was a tiny little 3 pound preemie!  My how she has grown!  This little Family Session is the culmination of a Studio and Outdoor Session, ending in a nearby Orchard which is just beautiful in the late summer.

Oh how I love those bright, beautiful smiles!  Happy 3rd Birthday, Melina!

Monthly Photo Challenge | October | Twin Cities Portrait Photographer

In the spirit of reviving my poor, neglected blog, I have joined a small group of photographers in the undertaking of a monthly photo challenge for the year of 2012. The theme for October is Orange and/or Black.

October is a BUSY month for photographers, and this photo embodies the reason, for me. The light and leaves make for a gorgeous backdrop.  Gone are the sweaty and buggy sessions of summer.  The holidays are fast approaching – it’s time to seriously think about gifts and cards!  All a recipe for a busy month full of FUN sessions!

But it’s always nice to pause and take in the little things.  Every morning, I walk my son to the bus stop, and I’ve noticed, little by little, it’s darker and darker when we’re making this walk.  At the beginning of the month, the sun was peeking out just as the bus was picking him up. And now, it’s about 15 minutes after I get back home that I see the sun.  As I was walking back home one early morning, I saw this beautiful leaf sitting up in our grass, with the sun lighting it from behind, causing it to simply glow, and I had to capture it.  I suppose I looked funny lying on my stomach on the driveway, but hey, my neighbors are probably aware by now – I take a lot of photos! 🙂

On a sidenote, the darker it gets as we make our morning walk, the more I’m reminded of safety.  Please remind your children often that they cannot depend upon drivers to see them.  They must be safe, and vigilant, to protect themselves.  And have a happy and SAFE Halloween!

And there you have it! Next month’s theme is Brown and/or Yellow/Gold!  Subscribe to my blog to get instant notifications of future posts, and comments are very welcome! Keep the circle going! The {P} Family | Twin Cities Family Photographer

Rewinding Summer a bit to blog about my friend Jessica and her wonderful family!

We’re both Photographers so we made a little deal at the beginning of the summer to photograph each others families.  We both know how incredibly important it is to document how our families are growing and changing, and it was interesting and challenging to be on the other side of the lens!

Without further delay, I bring you The {P} Family – sweet, wild, spunky, crazy, fun, and cute!  They were a riot to photograph, and I think it shows!

Savage Entertainment Fights | Savage Sports Photographer

First off, just a bit of a warning that this type of photography is not what you’re used to seeing from me.  I specialize in photographing newborns, babies, children, and families, but a part of my heart belongs to Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts.  Back in April, I was invited to photograph an MMA Event at Neisen’s Sports Bar in Savage, Minnesota, hosted by Savage Entertainment.  I’m a boxer/kickboxer, and I absolutely love to capture the fights.  Sitting right up against the cage with fight action sometimes flying directly at my lens was the most awesome experience, and I hope to do it again soon!
Here are a few (okay more than a few) of my favorite images from the fights that night.  Enjoy!  And if you’re ever looking to get in shape, learn how to defend yourself, and you’ve ever been interested in Mixed Martial Arts, please check out American Top Team Savage.  You won’t be sorry!  Watching them fight, these guys might seem intimidating to work out with, but they’re some of the nicest people I know, and they know that everyone starts somewhere, and if you’re going to learn Boxing, Kickboxing, and/or Jiu Jitsu, it’s best to start in a place where you will have good habits from the start.

If you’re interested in the most action-packed MMA you’ve ever seen (these guys and gals have HEART!), check out the upcoming fights at Savage Entertainment.  There are fights TONIGHT!  And you might even see some familiar images on their website! (hint hint)

2012 Photo Challenge | September | Twin Cities Portrait Photographer

The theme for September is Black and/or White.

This month has been filled with busy “Back to School” schedules, for all 3 of my boys now!  My baby is in Kindergarten!!!!  (I really have to say those words out loud)  He’s learning all sorts of new things, and it seems like each day he steps off that bus, he has grown up just a little bit more.  The emotions as a parent are bittersweet.

Here is my Black & White image, my “baby”, who changes just a little every day.  I want to capture who he is right now, and hold onto it forever.

And there you have it! Next month’s theme is Orange and/or Black!  Subscribe to my blog to get instant notifications of future posts, and comments are very welcome! Keep the circle going! {Little Baby Leo} | Twin Cities Newborn Photographer

Finally getting around to blogging this little cutie.  I visited newborn Leo’s house a couple of months ago for his first little photo shoot, and I could not have asked for a more adorable subject, and helper!

Baby Leo was a great sleeper for the session, and his Big Sister Jessa was so much fun to chat with!  I could tell she was super excited to have a Little Brother.  She joined us for a few photos!

Are they not adorable???  They’re going to be SUCH a wonderful set of siblings and I can’t wait to meet them again!

Love,

Christine
